Continuing the series on spiritual warfare and the whole armor of God, Pastor Dale teaches from Ephesians 6 about the shield of faith. Believers are not called to live as defenseless targets of Satan’s attacks. God has provided spiritual armor so that His children can stand firm against fear, temptation, lies, condemnation, and every fiery dart of the enemy.
The message explains that faith means trusting what God has revealed even when it cannot yet be seen. Hebrews 11 describes faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Visible circumstances may appear overwhelming, but they do not reveal everything God is doing.
The account of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6 provides a powerful example. The servant saw the Syrian army surrounding the city and became afraid. Elisha, however, knew that God’s unseen protection was greater. When God opened the servant’s eyes, he saw the mountain filled with horses and chariots of fire.
Pastor Dale applies this lesson to the struggles believers face today. Health problems, financial pressure, anxiety, obstacles, and spiritual attacks may appear stronger than us, but they are not greater than God. The shield of faith protects us when we choose to trust God’s character and promises instead of allowing fear to control our thoughts.
Christians are therefore called to keep their eyes on God, grow in His Word, pray, and stand on the truth. What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. We walk by faith, not by sight.
