More Than Believing: Are You Truly Following Jesus?

What does it truly mean to have a relationship with Jesus Christ? Is simply believing in His existence enough, or is God calling us to something deeper?

During our October 4 Sunday morning service, Pastor Dale Hobbs delivered a message challenging believers to examine their relationship with God and consider whether their daily lives reflect the faith they profess.

Beginning with Matthew 7:21–23, Pastor Dale explored Jesus' warning that not everyone who calls upon His name will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He reminded us that outward religious activity means little when our hearts are not genuinely surrendered to the Lord. True faith is not about seeking recognition or performing good works for appearances, but about knowing Christ and allowing Him to transform our lives.

The message then turned to John 3, where Nicodemus, a Pharisee, approached Jesus seeking understanding. Through their conversation, Jesus revealed the necessity of being born again through the Spirit. Pastor Dale emphasized that spiritual transformation marks the beginning of a growing relationship with God, one built upon repentance, obedience, prayer, and studying His Word.

Throughout the sermon, Pastor Dale encouraged the congregation to recognize that spiritual maturity develops over time. Just as learning a musical instrument requires practice and dedication, growing closer to God requires a willingness to spend time in His presence and continually learn His ways.

The message concluded with a personal challenge: "Do others see Christ in you?"

Our faith should extend beyond the church walls and become evident in our words, decisions, attitudes, and treatment of others. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been offered the extraordinary gift of reconciliation with God. The question is whether we are willing to surrender our lives and truly follow Him.

As we reflect on this message, may we remember that Christianity is not merely about believing that Jesus exists. It is about knowing Him, loving Him, and allowing His Spirit to guide every part of our lives.

Scripture Focus: Matthew 7:21–23; John 3:1–8

Additional Scripture References: Romans 3:23; Romans 8:17; Matthew 28:19–20

We invite you to watch Pastor Dale's full message and reflect on your own walk with Christ. Whether you are beginning your spiritual journey or seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord, may this sermon encourage you to grow in faith and live wholeheartedly for Jesus.
